Green Check Blanket Cape

Blanket Cape (similar here) | High Neck Swing Dress
Chelsea Boots (similar here)

Unintentionally this whole outfit is from New Look but I think it's a good thing because it reflects how much I'm loving them at the moment. I'm sure everyone has seen these blanket capes around, they give me major flashbacks to the time when ponchos were the 'in thing'! When I was browsing New Look's offerings of blanket capes I was eyeing up quite a few of them, in particular the navy and red check one (here) and the monochrome houndstooth one (here). In the end I decided to go for the green check one because I already have too many houndstooth print items in my wardrobe (as you may have noticed from my previous outfit posts!) and I've got a red check big scarf so I thought that would be too similar. Although the cape doesn't have arm holes, it fits really well and falls nicely as it has a small slit at the top just behind the neck.

The focus is on the blanket cape but I have to talk about this swing dress. I'm not really a dress kinda gal when it comes to daytime wear but this has well and truly converted me! I love the look of it, especially teamed with my favourite chelsea boots. I really like the high neck and it's the perfect basic to throw on for those 'I don't know what to wear' days. I can see myself reaching for it a lot this autumn/winter and when it gets colder (which probably isn't too far away *brrrr*) I can easily add a pair of tights and layer it up!

What do you think of blanket capes? Have you got one yet?

  1. Girrrrl, you look amazing! The dress is beautiful on you and I've never seen someone pull off the blanket cape as well as you do!
